Driving School, also referred to as driver’s education, driving lessons, driver’s ed, or simply driver’s school is a formal educational class or course that prepares an individual to obtain either a full driver’s license or a driver’s license prior to operating a vehicle on the road. In many jurisdictions, this type of instruction must be completed before the issuance of a driver’s license by those who are less than 18 years old. There are many different types of driving schools that exist today. Some specialize in providing driver training and others provide basic driver education – see website here
There are many different types of driving schools
Driving schools typically provide students with an experienced instructor and a classroom that can accommodate up to two or more student students. Students learn everything from how to operate the vehicle to how to handle different kinds of emergencies on the road. The majority of driving schools utilize a variety of educational tools including classroom discussions, lectures, demonstrations, hands-on driving instruction, and skill testing. In most cases, students will have the opportunity to take a course at the end of their initial driver training session to review and to refresh their memory about all of the information that they have previously learned during the course of their instruction. Instruction taken outside of a traditional classroom setting may consist of defensive driving instruction or any other form of driver training that is recognized by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Students that successfully complete a recognized driving school program are often awarded either a certificate of completion or a certificate of approval. The certificate of completion is required for individuals who wish to apply for a driver’s license, while the certificate of approval is required for those who want to obtain the Certified Traffic Safety Class (CTC) certification. Most insurance companies require students who successfully complete a driving school program to pass a comprehensive test before offering coverage to the student. Students who successfully complete the program are usually awarded a certificate of completion which contains a statement of thanks from the driving instructor that highlights their success in the program. The certificate of completion is also excellent material for potential employers when interviewing for jobs within the driving field.
